High Seas of Saraphiel
3rdLevel - Wall of Light
In my spare time aboard the ship, I have spent much time considering new applications for the Magic I already understand. Among other things, I have wrestled with the concept of how to repel would-be boarders, and how to hinder would-be attackers from other ships. Especially considering that our Night Tide is outmatched by nearly any other vessel in these High Seas of Saraphiel, it seems to me that we need a means by which to level the decks, so to speak. While my work in developing Ayin/SabhMelish/Hasi has definite implications for preventing our enemies from MOVING, I began to wonder at what means I might have to keep our enemies from SEEING.
Considering that sight is intrinsically tied to light, I began to work again with Resh. The desire is to concentrate Resh in such a fashion as to sustainably cause it to blind, or at least block, the sight of those on the other side of it. My results are, I am afraid, a little more universal in its targets, but useful nonetheless. Since I wanted a more long-term spell, I researched the Rune for “Wall”, which is Petra, in the hopes that the spell would have a greater duration than MelishBassra. Then I paired the already known combination of ReshHod with the already known Activator for Hod, Ehren. Due to the manipulation of the Runes, it must be spoken ReshEhren, rather than EhrenResh. Doing so, while holding Hod over the scribed Petra brings while holding the Intent of a massive wall of coherent light along one side of the ship brings into existence one such a wall with such brightness as to nearly blind the eye.
Interestingly, I am able to see through the Wall of Light unhindered, but I am afraid that the sentry on watch the night I cast it, Gilbert, must have been terrified and driven to a new religious experience. I heard him speaking with Aldo the next day claiming to have ”Seen the Light”.
